Arctic Animal Resources That Make Learning Fun & Easy!
If you’re planning an Arctic animals unit and want activities that are engaging, low-prep, and packed with learning, this resource was designed with busy teachers in mind. Perfect for Kindergarten through 2nd grade, it blends literacy, math, science, and STEM into meaningful, hands-on experiences students love.

Build Literacy Skills with Arctic-Themed Readers
Young learners strengthen reading confidence with 10 No-Prep Sight Word Foldable Booklets, each featuring a different Arctic animal. These one-page readers include simple science facts and repeated exposure to high-frequency sight words such as an, and, has, helps, I, in, is, it, like, the, and this. (This sight word portion can also be purchased separately) They’re perfect for independent reading, guided groups, or take-home practice—and they can also be purchased separately if you want just the readers. This video is a great introduction to Arctic animals.
After watching your students can practice reading comprehension and vocabulary with discussion questions, interactive Arctic animal discussions, and a fun “Who Am I?” Arctic animal fact game that encourages critical thinking.
Math Meets Science with Animal Tracks
Counting becomes meaningful with the Counting by 2s Reader, where students count animal tracks by twos. To extend learning, students can explore track and animal vocabulary task cards, posters (two size options), and a Write the Room or center activity where they match tracks and record their answers. A match-the-tracks cut-and-paste activity and crossword puzzles (two options) offer even more ways to reinforce concepts. Although this video is not specific to Arctic animal tracks, it is a good introduction to animal tracks in general.
Hands-On Learning Kids Love
Movement and interaction are built right in! Arctic Animal Movement Charades get students up and moving while reinforcing animal traits. The Label the Polar Bear activity (with two levels) supports writing, science vocabulary, and fine motor skills. This video is just fun. It shares movement and animal sounds which will add excitement to interactive discussions at circle time!
For deeper learning, students can complete 10 fact web sheets for simple research and wrap it all up with a Simple STEM Project that includes a planning sheet and step-by-step STEM guide—perfect for introducing problem-solving and design thinking in an age-appropriate way. Use these videos and the book recommendations to have students gather Arctic animal facts. These can be used to create a written report or a general sharing time experience.
